Committed to Nation’s development in infrastructure – drinking water transportation
Mr B. Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel Limited inaugurated 110,000 tpa Ductile Iron (DI) Pipe Plant of Tata Metaliks Kubota Pipes Limited (TMKPL) on 7th March 2009 at Kharagpur. The plant is set up within the premises of Tata Metaliks’ Pig Iron plant at Kharagpur. The world-class DI Pipes to roll out of the plant would contribute greatly to the infrastructural development of the nation. The plant was constructed in less than a year of commencement of site work.
The other Guests on the occasion were Mr Fujio Samukawa, Consul General of Japan, Kolkata, Mr Daisuke Hatakake - Chairman, Kubota Corporation, Mr Yasuo Masumoto - President, Kubota Corporation, Mr Hiromi Fujikawa - Division COO, Metal One Corporation, Mr H. M. Nerurkar - Chairman, Tata Metaliks Limited and Mr Harsh K Jha - Chairman, TMKPL.
TMKPL is a joint venture of Tata Metaliks Limited (TML), Kubota Corporation and Metal One Corporation of Japan for manufacturing of DI Pipes. Birth to this joint venture would synergize the “leadership with trust” of the Tata Group and Kubota Group’s proven “capabilities and know-how to offer superior products and technologies” and Metal One’s marketing acumen. Tata Metaliks Kubota Pipes being the torch bearer of these companies would serve the Community as its key customer by delivering world class quality Ductile Iron pipes for carrying safe drinking water. `People do not buy product; they buy a promise.’ Tata Metaliks Kubota Pipes would be representing assurance, reliability, and value for money. It wants to be known as the carrier of pure drinking water at a reasonable `People Cost.’
Kubota Corporation of Japan is the world leader in DI pipe manufacturing. They have provided their state-of–art technology for setting up the plant and would bring in the best operational practices complying to Japanese standards for manufacturing DI pipes. The plant would source molten metal, the key raw material for DI pipe, from Tata Metaliks, the largest manufacturer of and quality leader for pig iron in India. The plant has provided employment opportunities to the local villagers during its construction stage and it will spur high levels of economic development and business opportunities in the region.
