| Established in the year 1990, Tata Metaliks began its commercial production in 1994 to become India’s number one pig iron manufacturing and selling company over the years. Located at Kharagpur in West Bengal and Redi in Maharashtra, it has an annual capacity of 6,50,000 tonnes.
Tata Metaliks Limited is a public limited company promoted by Tata Steel Limited (formerly, The Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited) and assisted by The West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. As on 30 June 2011, the promoter group (Tata Steel) shareholding in the Company is 50.09% and the balance being held by Institutions, Corporate bodies and Individuals. The turnover of the company was Rs. 141,18.86 million in the year 2010-11; it earned a profit of Rs. 286.79 million.
Tata Metaliks is a customer centric organization. The pig iron produced by Tata Metaliks Limited is rated as the best in India. The Company also provides its customers with critical support across their entire business cycle – raw material, process and end product – helping it emerge as their business partners. It emerged as a one-stop shop for raw materials and end products for a large number of customers.
The Customer Service Center of Tata Metaliks Limited has been set up with a view to provide an end-to-end service bouquet - supplying customized feedstock, cupola related services, helping optimize production processes, facilitating chemical analysis of the raw materials and so on. It is a pioneering industry initiative taken with the aim to not only give best service to customers, but also to improve the competitiveness of the local foundries and help them resolve their queries immediately.
Tata Metaliks through its joint venture with Kubota Corporation of Japan has promoted a new company called Tata Metaliks Kubota Pipes Ltd. (www.tatametalikskubota.com) and has entered into the business of manufacturing ductile iron pipes since 2007.
Future Plans
Sinter Project: Tata Metaliks Limited is in the process of setting up a sinter plant at its Kharagpur plant to produce about 4 lakh tonnes of sinter per annum. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by Sept' 2012. Tata Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. are the consultants for this project. The use of sinter in the blast furnace burden will help in utilization of iron ore fines and other waste materials, to improve blast furnace productivity and reduce coke rate.
Coke Oven Plant: Tata Metaliks Limited, is in discussions with various parties to put up a 10,000 tpm capacity Coke Oven within its plant premises at Kharagpur on BOOT basis.
Karnataka Project: The State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC ) in its meeting has approved Tata Metaliks Limited's project of setting up a 3 million tones per annum capacity integrated Iron & Steel plant in Haveri District, Karnataka in association with Tata Steel.

Tata Metaliks Limited has been adjudged the Highest Delta & Business Excellence leader in TBEM (A Malcolm Baldridge Business Excellence Model) in 2007. They won the JRDQV Award for the year 2007.
Bagged the TPM Excellence & TPM consistency awards from Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance in 2002 and 2006.
Avaya Global Connect Customer Responsiveness Award in the year 2006.
In the year 2005, we were ranked 5th in terms of ROCE and 6th in terms of ‘Return on Assets’ by Business World Survey.
CII EXIM Bank’s Active Promotion Award in 2004.
